but, okay. he might've deserved that for springing this on a man who should by all means be telling others he's a red flag openly by now.

he releases his hold, reaching up to rub the tip of his ear gingerly between two fingers, surprised at how tender they can be. no one's ever retaliated towards him in such a manner before. it's mostly been things thrown at his face, or you know, a heated putdown or two to very plainly tell him off. not that that often works. )

I am, actually. Honestly, even without what you just did, I get the feeling you could've been just as persuasive. You must've lived a pretty precarious life to be able to lie through your teeth in the blink of an eye like that.
